Newborn babies with clubfoot deformity will now have special shoes to put on. When babies with clubfeet are given immediate treatment then it can prevent future problems such as not being able to walk well. Clubfoot is best corrected at the initial stage when the necessary attention is given to the situation. Using special shoes for clubfoot can help in this process. When using special shoes for clubfoot there are certain things you need to know to avoid future complications. In most clubfoot treatments such as the Ponseti method, which is mostly the preferred choice, there are two phases of the treatment. With the first phase being the casting stage in which the foot is gradually moved to its correct position, and the second phase is the bracing stage in which it is made sure that the foot stayed at its correct position. In the bracing phase, the bracing is in two parts with one part consisting of a bar and another part being special shoes that are attached to the bar. The bar part of the bracing is usually made of metal which is put into the bottom of the shoes. The purpose of the brace is to keep the club foot in the corrected position to prevent it from twisting back to the deformed position.

In the bracing, the special shoes will be worn for about 2- 5 years consistently all the time except during baths for the first three months and only worn at night for the rest of the years. It is important to know that the bracing phase is just the correction phase and after the correction, the feet will now be normal and positioned properly as they should have been. But that is not all, the human feet grow quite fast in its early years and that means the brace should be worn throughout these years to avoid the feet from growing out to become clubfeet again.

•You should also be aware that when the legs are in the brace, they cannot move independently buy rather they move together only.
•Slowly the child will learn how to kick and swing simultaneously and also know how to bend the knees while still in the brace.
